Hanwha Ocean Secures Module Fabrication Contract for Chevron's Leviathan Expansion Amid Regional Dyn

发布时间:2026-03-06
Hanwha Ocean has been awarded a module fabrication contract for the Leviathan offshore gas field expansion project by Chevron Mediterranean Limited. The scope covers the fabrication and integration of additional modules onto the existing production platform, supporting the field's capacity upgrade from 12 bcm to approximately 21 bcm per year to meet rising regional energy demand.

Hanwha Ocean has supported the project since 2024 through constructability reviews and early development works. The $2.3 billion expansion program, sanctioned in January 2026, targets startup before 2030.

Shortly after the contract announcement, the Leviathan field was issued a temporary operational suspension order amid regional security developments. Hanwha Ocean noted that the suspension is not expected to have an immediate impact on project execution, as module installation is scheduled for Q1 2028, providing ample construction timeline flexibility. The company continues to monitor the situation closely.

This award further strengthens the long-term partnership between Hanwha Ocean and Chevron, underpinning energy infrastructure and supply stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.
